Maple Grove Township is in the center of the Bear Creek Watershed, in the center of the county.
Our area boasts many miles of wooded forest and bodies of water, making it perfect for hunting, fishing, camping, biking, outdoor sports and more. Maple Grove Township is in the Kaleva Norman Dickson School District. Our fire department has been active since 1946. Maple Grove Township supports the Manistee County Recreation Commission and Supervisor Beldo serves on the Committee as Chairperson.

Maple Grove Township offers a Spring and Fall Large Item Cleanup where larger items such as TVs, mattresses, furniture, etc. can be taken. This service is for residents of Maple Grove Township and the Village of Kaleva. The Spring cleanup occurs the third Saturday in May from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. The Fall cleanup occurs the third Saturday in September from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. Tires are NOT allowed.

Land split Applications may be picked up at the Maple Grove Township hall or we can fax or email a copy to you. No parcel may be created smaller that five (5) acres.

Horse-drawn buggies are dark in color, and travel around 5-8 miles per hour. Because rural roads are often more narrow, there can be increased danger when passing horses and horse-drawn buggies. Blind corners, open ditches, loose gravel and grass berms can also be hazardous. And please - do not honk your horn - it can spook the horse.
